Day 4 Dubrovnik, Croatia
Dubrovnik (Italian: Ragusa) is a port city in Dalmatia, a region in Croatia, on the Adriatic Sea. Dubrovnik, located below Mount Srđ, is considered one of the most beautiful cities on the Adriatic coast and is therefore also called the "Pearl of the Adriatic". The old, completely walled fortress city of Dubrovnik is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
Once we entered the city of Dubrovnik through the Pile Gate, we immediately decided to walk the City Walls as we were still full of energy. It was warm, 34degrees (Celcius) kind of warm, we saw some people pass out during our walk over the walls. Luckily there are more than enough places to cool down and get a cooled drink, of course it not cheapest. I also bought a hat to cope with the sun. The walk over the City Walls gives you some nice views of Dubrovnik from above and also the Mediterranean Sea.
We continued down in the city of Dubrovnik getting lost in all the narrow streets, luckily they provide some shade and some bars to have some much needed cold drinks. We visited both the St. Blaise's Church and the Saint Ignatius Church.
The Saint Blaise's Church is dedicated to the city's patron saint and was built in 1715 in the ornate baroque style. The interior is remarkable for its marble altar, stained-glass windows and a silver statue of St Blaise. The Saint Ignatius Church is a Jesuit church that was built in the baroque style between 1699 and 1725, inside are beautiful frescos.
We walked to the Old Port of Dubrovnik, which is full of different kinds of boats. There are also a lot of souvenir shops and we also came across this sleepy cat. We also have to report that we were unable to resist the Ice Cream on the way back to the Celebrity Infinity.
